The story of two people who went to synagogue conveys the actual fact necessary to prove that there are people who don't mind what they are praying for.
The mindless rich man started counting what and what he has been doing for poor people. He also claimed he has not been talking with sinners and lepers and penury sets of people. He puts himself up in his prayer mindlessly.
It wasnt a surprise for him to be alive as at then and he felt that it deserved to be alive. He also condemned the poor man who was putting on cheap cloths and cheapest shoe in town, who was there kneeling and praying to God for mercy.
The prayer of that poor man was answered as he made everything he prayed humbly for clear and plain to God.
Longer prayer sometimes is not necessary as long as it is mindless prayer. Hypocrites are fond of making longer prayers that make then feel righteous that others thereby elevating their egotism. See Matthew 23:14.
God wants you to pray from your mind and not from your lips. Believers of Christ who pray from their minds enjoy the moments of praying than those who pray from their lips because they are being forced to pray and they normally rehearse prayer and at the end, they don't feel the joy of prayer.
